Practices
Consumer Protection Law
Given Brandon Block’s years of experience defending large financial institutions in consumer protection matters, making consumer protection law the focal point of our practice was an easy choice. Our consumer practice is broad and includes matters involving debt collection abuses, unlawful car repossessions, credit reporting errors, automobile dealer fraud and collection defense. Our firm has made and continues to make a determined effort to better people’s lives in times of financial crisis and abuse by creditors. Many of our clients have suffered a loss of money or property, and sometimes both. Yet, we have come to realize that other harms resulting from financial abuses, such as relentless and continuing pain, suffering and embarrassment, can be more devastating to individuals than any loss of money or property. We hope we can be a positive force for change in not only achieving monetary compensation, but also in alleviating other, non-economic damages of our clients.
Civil Litigation
Our commitment to fairness in business dealings also serves as the foundation of our general civil litigation practice. Our civil litigation practice is broad, covering numerous areas of the law and many different industries. For example, we can help an individual achieve monetary compensation from a company that has breached an employment contract or stolen intellectual property. We also can defend persons in lawsuits brought by companies and financial institutions for, among other things, writs of attachment and other collection matters. For companies, we can provide sound and cost-effective guidance for plaintiff and defense work in business-to-business and corporate issues. Our approach to litigation is one of passion for our clients’ operations and history, tempered by first-hand knowledge of the many ups and downs of running a company. We believe in a simple economics-based litigation model that asks: Which course of action will net the client more money? We have not and will not get involved in a matter only to obtain legal fees. We will take the time to learn your operations and your goals, and together, form a strategic plan that seeks to resolve the issue in an intelligent and reasonable manner.
