Stop Debt Collection Calls

You can stop debt collection contacts. The fair debt collection laws allow consumers to stop debt collection phone calls and other contacts. This can be accomplished by sending a "cease contact" letter to the debt collector. It is possible that the letter could cause the debt collector or original creditor to sue you or take other action, so please make any cease contact demand only after careful consideration of your issue. Below is the text of a sample (and very simple) cease contact letter. Any cease contact letter should be sent by certified mail, return receipt requested, and you should retain copies of the letter and the receipts for your records. Before you use the below form, please read our disclaimer.

Pursuant to my rights under the state and federal fair debt collection laws, I hereby demand that you immediately cease all written and oral contact with me, and my family, friends, references and employer, regarding any alleged debt you contend I owe on the Account. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation with my demand.
